About Paycheck Calculator by State
Paycheck Calculator by State is a website with free calculators for pay. You enter your pay and your Form W-4, and the paycheck calculator shows your take-home pay with every tax on its own line. Other calculators work out overtime, time cards and pay raises.
How the calculators work
The paycheck calculator follows the worksheet the IRS gives employers in Publication 15-T for 2026. Each step of the worksheet is shown next to the result, so you can check the numbers by hand or against a pay stub.
All calculations run in your browser. The site has no account, no sign-up and no paid plan.
Where the numbers come from
Every rate, bracket and limit comes from the agency that sets it: the Internal Revenue Service, the Social Security Administration, the U.S. Department of Labor and, for state pages, that state's revenue department. Each calculator lists its sources at the end of its page. The methodology page explains the method and lists every source the site uses.
How the site stays current
Tax figures are kept in one data file for each tax year. The calculators, the tables and the examples on every page read from that file, so a change is made in one place. The 2026 federal figures were last checked against the official pages on 9 October 2026.
Who builds the site
The calculators are built and checked by Jhon W, the site's founder and editor.
Using the results
A result is an estimate of one paycheck. Your employer's payroll system and the Form W-4 it has on file set the exact amount. The site gives general information and is not tax, legal or payroll advice.
Independence
Paycheck Calculator by State is an independent website. It is not part of any government agency or payroll company.
